All Genders Queer Swing this Sat.

Sat. May 18th there will be a beginner East Coast Swing workshop from 11:30am-12:15pm. A few basic moves will be covered, and each participant can choose whether they would like to lead or follow.

The short workshop is part of Queerposium, at James Bay New Horizons (234 Menzies) in Lekwungen Territories. The workshop will be taught by two people who are encouraging local swing communities to be more gender-inclusive/ gender-neutral.

Also, some folks from the All Genders Queer Social Dance Collective plans to do some field trips (“rainbow flocking”) to local swing and blues dance classes and events in the next couple months. To be added to the group’s listserv, send an email.

Drop-ins are welcome. The class is by donation.

The focus is on having fun, being curious and renewing how we want to be with ourselves. No prior dance experience needed.

Everyone is welcome. All ages welcome, and there will be art supplies available for if any children who are joining you do not feel like dancing.
